- I would like to activate a support agreement in hp's software update manager (sum)
Before you can use a support agreement with SUM, you must first link this support agreement to a User ID. Once you have the support agreement linked to a User ID, log on to the ITRC. Go to the Maintenance and Support section, and click updates (software update manager). From the list of eligible support agreements, choose the support agreement you want to use in SUM.
- I would like to see a list of the products linked to my support agreement
There are two paths to this information; both paths require that you first log on.
- From the left bar, click my profile ; then, under the support agreement section , click view or modify support agreement/warranty/order information then click support agreement .
- From the Software Update Manager home page, click view my support agreement . Choose the desired support agreement, then click view support agreement details .
The software (and hardware) products covered on your HP support agreement are displayed for the support agreement you selected.
- I would like to order software updates
From the Software Update Manager home page, click order software updates . Select the appropriate support agreement. Choose the releases and products you want to order. Then click prepare request for selected products . Check the delivery address and then confirm your request.
You can use the Request ID and Order Number provided to check the status of your order.

- I would like to retrieve software information
When you view your software updates (see FAQ #3), any additional information (if available) is indicated by a docs hyperlink next to the update. Click the hyperlink. You will see a screen divided into two panes. The left pane, titled Release Notes, contains software information.
You can also search for technical documentation at www.docs.hp.com.

- I would like to retrieve delivery information
From the Software Update Manager home page, click view order status . Select the appropriate support agreement. Then select Request ID or Order Number to view information such as products ordered and shipment information.
You can track a specific shipment by going to the individual carrier's Website. The carrier is shown next to Carrier and the tracking number is next to Reference Number . Two of the common carriers used are DHL and United Parcel Service.
Both the DHL and UPS Websites offer localized support for some countries.

- I would like to retrieve codewords for software updates
Codewords are automatically displayed in SUM within 12 hours after you have confirmed your order for an HP-UX Software Application. Click view order status . Select the desired support agreement. Then select the Request ID or the Order Number to access the Codeword.

- I would like to change my delivery address
You can make a one-time change to your delivery address when you order updates (see FAQ #3). You can also permanently change the delivery address on your software contract. From the Software Update Manager home page, click update my agreement's delivery address . Select the desired support agreement. Make the appropriate modifications and click apply changes.

- I would like to subscribe to software update manager notifications
From the Software Update Manager home page, select manage software notification . Click change to email notification option . Select your preference, then click the apply changes button to make changes permanent.
Your selection will apply to all the support agreements you have active with HP's Software Update Manager under the same User ID. SUM announcements will be sent by e-mail to the address recorded in the IT Resource Center. If you wish to change the destination of the announcements, go to my profile on the left bar and choose view or modify contact information .

- I need assistance
You can get assistance from HP on any page of the IT Resource Center. On the left menu bar, click online help for access to relevant information online. Otherwise, click contact hp to send an e-mail to HP. You will receive a reply shortly. You also can send feedback about the IT Resource Center to HP from the contact hp page.

- I would like to request hp-ux documentation on cd-rom (also known as "instant information update")
To request an Instant Information update, go to the Software Update Manager home page. Click order software updates . In the select a release page, search for the appropriate Application Software Release or Operating System and Operating Environment release. Click the appropriate release in either of these two categories. Near the top of the screen, there are checkboxes to select all products for a given OS Version. Place a check mark in the desired select all checkbox. Choose request selected products at the bottom of the screen, then click confirm request .

miscellaneous
- When I try to download software from the software update manager, I do not get a completed download
The ITRC currently supports Netscape 4.x and 6.0 versions, as well as Microsoft IE 5.x versions.
If you have problems with downloading, contact the ITRC for assistance. From any page in the ITRC, click online help in the left bar. Under email hp , click ask a question about using the IT Resource Center . Select Maintenance/Support from the first pull-down menu; select Connectivity and Downloading . Then enter your question and information about you and click submit .
