What is new about support agreement linking?
HP support agreements can now have either of two types of identifiers for linking in ITRC. As in the past, a System Handle can be used for pre-merger HP support agreements. Additionally, a Service Agreement ID will identify new-HP support agreements for linking to your ITRC User ID.
As appropriate to your HP support agreement, either a System Handle or a Service Agreement ID will identify HP support agreements for linking for ITRC access.
Why do support agreements have two different identifiers?
Support agreements can have either of two identifiers because HP adopted a new convention for defining agreements as part of merging pre-merger HP and pre-merger Compaq systems. Thus, system handle can be used as well as service agreement ID as appropriate. Refer to your HP support agreement documentation for the correct identifier.
What is a Service Agreement ID and what is support agreement Linking?

Can I still use a System handle for linking?
If your HP Support Agreement is identified by a System Handle, then the System Handle should be used for linking.
Can I link a Compaq support agreement to my ITRC User ID?
It is not possible or necessary to link a Compaq support agreement to your ITRC User ID in order to access ITRC services for your Compaq products.
What kind of support agreement identifier should I use to link?

Why do I need to link a Service Agreement ID or System Handle?
To use some of the services in IT Resource Center, you must have linked at least one Service Agreement ID or System Handle for an active HP support agreement.
How do I link a support agreement?
You will probably need your copy of your HP support agreement to link a Service Agreement ID
On your HP support agreement, find your Service Agreement ID (or your System Handle), and enter it on the previous screen. Your printed agreement may use different names for this item, depending on your geographic location.
Once I have linked a support agreement, will I ever need to link that support agreement again?
In most cases you are not required to relink your support agreement. The IT Resource Center will remember the Service Agreement ID or System Handle you linked to your User ID, so your User ID and Password are all that you will need in future sessions.
How many Support Agreements can I link?
You may link as many support agreements to your User ID as you need.
Can another User ID link my Service Agreement IDs or System Handles?
No. Once you link a Service Agreement ID or System Handle, it cannot be linked by anyone else. This helps prevent unauthorized use of your Service Agreement ID in obtaining HP support. However, you have the option to share the access privileges of your linked Service Agreement ID or System Handle with another User ID. You can also reassign all your privileges associated with linked Service Agreement IDs or System Handles to another ITRC user. |
